TateShots: Christo

Turns out life isn’t so easy when your one goal in life is to wrap everything you see in giant pieces of fabric. Who would have thought? The end result of Christo’s work is always interesting, if not always understandable. But, transforming buildings, islands and hills into works of art using a lot of material, and a minimalistic approach has earned Christo and his partner Jeanne-Claude a name in modern art history.

“Christo, the man who wrapped the Reichstag, says that getting permission from the authorities to create his art is like playing poker. Here he talks us through his process and the difficulties that come with having his artistic interventions publicly debated by thousands, before they even exist.”
