The long weekend in August saw the return of the world famous Icelandic Festival of Manitoba in Gimli. If you missed it, well, you missed a bloody good time. It was fake blood mind you. Hundreds watched on as faux Vikings caught in a time warp re-enacted the brutality of war at a time when real men wore funny looking helmets with a nose cover. But, seriously, the festival is, based on those who rave about it, an excellent and unique event not only in Manitoba, but in all of Canada. It’s over for 2013, but keep it in mind for 2014!
