2013 University of Winnipeg Student Film Festival trailer

It’s time once again for the yearly film festival focused on the works of University of Winnipeg students. I’m sure every student involved would love to have the community out to see their films and to support them. It’s made that much easier by being completely free and open to all! Details can be found below as well as at the festival website, theatre.uwinnipeg.ca/filmfest.htm

THE 11TH ANNUAL
UNIVERSITY OF WINNIPEG
STUDENT FILM FESTIVAL

The University of Winnipeg Department of Theatre and Film is pleased to present its
annual celebration featuring juried films made by post-secondary students
registered in school between April, 2012 and April, 2013.

The Festival will take place
Wednesday, May 1 – 3, 2013
in
Eckhardt-Gramatté Hall (3rd Floor Centennial Hall)
at the University of Winnipeg.

All Festival events are free and open to the public.

29 selected films were chosen from a field of 61 entries received by the deadline. As usual, the level of competition was high, promising an exciting program for Festival competitors and attendees alike. Cash awards will be presented for best editing, cinematography, sound, documentary, actor, actress, screenplay, director, and film; audience members will vote for Audience Favourite. This year our Jury has also chosen to present a Special Jury Award.

Selected films will be screened on Wednesday, May 1st and Thursday, May 2nd from 7:00-10:00 p.m. We will post a full Festival Program here as soon as it becomes available. In the meantime, our juries have now met and selected films for the Festival and made Award Nominees.

The Friday evening Gala on May 3rd will begin at 7:00 p.m. with the première of the UW senior filmmaking class film, Abducted. At 8:00, our Special Guest, well-known local filmmaker, Danishka Esterhazy, will show selections from her films, followed by a Q & A session. The Awards Ceremony, screening of award-winning films, and closing reception will round out this very special evening.

The organizers gratefully acknowledge the support of the UWinnipeg Vice-President (Academic), the Department of Theatre and Film, and new sponsors, Inland Audio and Landau Ford Lincoln, without whose generosity, this Festival would not be possible.
