Nelson Mandela dies at 95

Nelson Mandela has passed away at the age of 95. He “passed on peacefully,” according to South African President Jacob Zuma. “Our nation has lost its greatest son. Our people have lost a father.”

He died at his home in Johannesburg.

Mandela, one of the most prominent, unequaled leaders of the age, had been suffering from respiratory problems, which some sources are saying were caused by his imprisonment. In April, 2013, he was hospitalized for the fifth time in two years, and was diagnosed with the pneumonia that ultimately lead to his death.
